You travel from the UK to the Philippines and see the current British pound to the Pilipino peso.

When talking about the price level, you gotta know the pound to Pilipino peso rate.
I have to take out a chart and explain the past and present.
I’ll try to keep things simple and graphic.
So, it’ll only take a few moments.
Below you can see an all-time chart for GBP/PHP.
GBP to PHP exchange rate history
The chart covers price levels from 1997 till now.
Let’s start with 1997.
It was the lowest rate for GBP/PHP.
The value of British pounds hit an all-time low and was at 48.23.
Then, we saw a spike, and the price went above 70, which is close to the current levels.
It’s funny how the rate never travels in the same direction.
It makes peaks and troughs.
Coming back to our chart, you can see the price took a dip in 1999.
In the next five years, the level never went down.
It kept on going high, and in December 2004, it reached an all-time high.
The price went crazy and reached 107.
However, afterwards, we saw a drop, and in 2009 the rate was trading at 67.
It went further down, and in 2013, it reached 61.
In 2014 and 2015, GBP folded its sleeves, and the rate went above the 74-mark.
But (there’s always a but), GBP dropped again in 2016.
Can you take a guess? Why did it happen?
Shout out to those who say Brexit!
With Brexit, the UK economy struggled (and is still working).
So, this led to the fall of the GBP.
But how come PHP stabilizes against the pound?
You see, the Philippines has a strong economy.
In fact, in 2019, the Philippines was one of the fastest-growing economies on the planet.
According to statistical data, the country’s GDP rose at 6% annually between 2010 and 2019.
Here you can see a growth chart:
Philippines GDP chart
Even though the pandemic did take the toil on the economy, the Philippines economy grew in 2021.
Still, there’s a curious question, “Why didn’t the pound lose too much ground?”
The reason is GBP is a strong currency.
The Bank of England strictly follows economic policies.
Fun Fact: The Bank of England is called the “Old Lady.”
As part of BoE’s long-term goals, it has a lower inflation rate.
It allows more purchasing power.
So, that’s why GBP is a dominating currency.
Yeah, the pound lost ground against PHP and is no way near its all-time high.
But, you can’t doubt the good ol’ pound sterling.
That’s why the pound never lost too much and is still a stronger currency than the Philippine peso.
Now the next time anyone says, “Why is PHP lower than GBP”?
You know what to answer.
A curious question can arise at any moment.
And one of the probing questions is, “What’s the pound to Philippine peso rate today”?
According to SafeTrade’s converter, the current rate is 69.59.
It means you need 69.59 PHP to exchange one GBP today.
So, now you know!
You learned a bit about history in the last section. In this part, I’ll describe how the rate will look in the future.I’m gonna explain this on the chart too. We’ll see what the future holds!

Before going further, I should add one important thing.
The charts I’m going to show you are just predictions.
The exchange rate depends on many factors, as I mentioned earlier.
Therefore, no one can predict the exact price levels.
So, it’s helpful to get a more comprehensive market idea.
With that, let’s talk about the year ahead.
I’m going to go month by month,
So it takes the fuss out of the equation.
As January has ended, I’ll explain from February.
